The Cultural Nihilists are around; they are in fashion. Sartre, Ionesco, Beckett Burroughs, Ginsberg – philosophers, poets, playwrights, artists, movie-makers. They would destroy civilization: it is rotten, and life has no purpose and the world no pity. Self? It is an illusion. -- Dr. Rameshwar Gupta, Sri Aurobindo and the Cultural Nihilists, The Future Vision of Sri Aurobindo, Edited by Sri Swatantra, 1972
